The 2016 batch of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been declared the best batch in the history of Ghana’s BECE.

Director general of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Jacob A. Kor, reveals that close to 3,994 candidates excelled in the 2016 BECE with more than 500 raw scores in all six subjects. The total raw scores by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) is 600, making the performance in Ghana a historic one.

The 2016 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) in Accra is ongoing with vacancies open across  860 public and private senior high, technical and vocational institutes. These vacancies also include the community Day Senior High Schools which would hopefully start admissions of the first batch for the 2016/2017 academic year.

Education minister, Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang, has assured that this year’s CSSPS will be very successful as all students will be granted equal chance to their choices of schools.

A total of 460,930 candidates sat for the 2016 BECE . Candidates were from a total of 14,267 schools and the examination was administered at 1,598 centres.
