The Republic Editorial: NPP Must Stop the Manufactured Endorsements

by | Nov 3, 2016 | Articles, Features | 0 comments

Many chiefs and  community leaders across the country have been giving their genuine endorsements for President John Mahama’s  second term bid as he continues crisscrossing every breadth and length of Ghana campaigning.

These genuine endorsements of the president’s candidature are borne out of his good leadership skills and the massive infrastructural developments he has spread across the country.

The beneficiaries , who are the people of Ghana, see the immediate and long term benefits  of the many schools, hospitals and clinics, potable water projects amongst others . This they continue to show appreciation for by calling on everyone to give the NDC four more years in power.

The Republic has, however, taken note of Akufo-Addo’s desperation for power by manufacturing endorsements from chiefs across the country, especially from the Volta Region.

Reports were rife last week that some chiefs in the Nkwanta and Peki Traditional Areas have given their support to the NPP and its flag bearer when he took his campaign there. The Republic is reliably informed that the chiefs of these areas have both denied ever giving their support to that effect.

This paper finds the conduct of desperation-in-chief,Akufo-Addo, and his NPP as very shameful. They have disrespected the chiefs  and people of these areas by treacherously using their names for political capital.

Nana Akufo-Addo must put  a stop to this desperate and disrespectful trade of manufacturing endorsements from chiefs.
