Tree Fell On GHANASS Students; Killed One, Injured 6 Others

A first year male student of the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS), Koforidua in the Eastern Region has died, with six others seriously wounded after a tree on their campus fell on them.

The deceased, 16-year-old Edmund Amoako according to reports, was sitting under the tree together with other students when the unfortunate incident happened on Saturday, 21st January, 2017. Reports say,  he was pronounced dead on arrival by authorities of the St. Joseph hospital in Koforidua-Effiduase.

However, the other six students who suffered varying degrees of injuries have been treated and discharged.

The Effiduase District Police Commander, ASP Dan Yaaro confirmed the incident to Citi Fm and added that the Police are conducting investigations into it and will address the media at an appropriate time.

“Yes, I can confirm the accident at Koforidua Ghana Senior High School, which occurred last[Saturday] night. We are currently in the school conducting investigations into the incident, and we will address the media at the appropriate time,” he added.
