Full List And Pictures: UPSA Sacks 22 Students For Grades Manipulation
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has dismissed 22 final year students for hacking into the university’s grading system.
This decision was taken at an emergency Academic Board meeting held on Wednesday, 15th February, 2017, a statement issued by the university says.
The dismissed students were found culpable of engaging in various acts to undermine the University’s student information system in order to manipulate various grades in their favour.
It was reported that the students paid between GHc 2,000 to GHc 4,000 to an individual to have their 2015/2016 academic year grades changed.
“The Academic Board took a serious view of this conduct considering the potential it has to damage the credibility of the University,” the statement added.

The statement also clarified that the pictures of the seven students have been made public because they did not aid in the investigations.
The Academic Board “resolved that seven of the dismissed students who refused to cooperate with the investigation process should have their photographs published alongside their names to serve as a deterrence,” the statement clarified.
Meanwhile the Police have began investigations into the matter whiles the alleged hacker has been granted bail.
The alleged hacker “reported himself to the police and was given bail, and it was through that we requested to interact with him. He has since cooperated with the committee and showed remorse,” the Registrar of the University, Seidu Mohammed Mustapha said in an interview with Citi Fm.
