UG Final Year Student Drowns In Swimming Pool

A final year student of the University of Ghana (UG) is reported dead after he drowned in the school’s swimming pool. The incident happened when the 22-year-old level 400 student identified as Dennis Akoto went to the poolside to swim on Saturday, 22nd April, 2017. The deceased was a student of Economics and Information Studies and a resident of Akuafo hall. Reports say he was rushed to the University Hospital after lifeguards and a doctor on duty conducted CPIs on him. He, however, gave his last breath at the hospital notwithstanding all attempts by medical officials to save him. He celebrated his 22nd birthday last Monday. The sad news came as a shock to most of his friends as they knew him to be a good swimmer.
